Werner Rolewinck

A Carthusian monk and author of around 50 written works. He was born in Westphalia in 1425 to a wealthy farmer, and educated in Cologne where he lived all the rest of his life. Rolewinck may have authored many works, but the ‘Fasciculus temporum’, remains his best known, being a history of the world from Creation to Pope Sixtus IV. Almost 40 editions were published during Rolewinck ‘s lifetime alone.
