Michele Tramezzino
Back to people overviewTramezzino was a book and print dealer active during the 16th Century, usually working with his brother Francesco. The siblings sold and published books and prints from addresses initially in Rome, then Venice. Tramezzino specialised in publishing maps not only from original sources, but also reduced versions of maps first published outside Italy. It is often only through Tramezzino's smaller copies that some of the great and elusive wall maps survive. His greatest publication was a world map in 1554, with separate Eastern and Western hemispheres.
