Louis Turquet de Mayerne

A Huguenot historian and political theorist, father of the better-known Theodore Turquet de Mayerne (1573 – 1655). Turquet wrote a general history of Spain, theological essays, treatises on the role of science and a philosophical tract on different forms of government. In one of his books appears a beautiful map of the world with the north pole at its centre, concentric circles representing latitude.
