One of the most important printers of the 15th Century. Originally from Augsburg, he was active in Venice from 1476-86 before returning to his home city. He introduced multiple printing innovations including the introduction of the title-page, production of the first known printer’s type specimen book, and was the first to print a book in two colours. He also published one of the 15th Century’s most popular books: Rolewinck's 'Fascilculus temporum', an overview of world history from Creation to the present.
