World Building
Back to people overviewWorld-building usually, though not exclusively, refers to the act of creating a Secondary World, and to the techniques and methods used to communicate its details.
Any act of make believe could be categorised as such, though text-based narrative has often provided the basis, with newer media such as film, television and video games developing different techniques to achieve similar ends.
Cartography remains one of the most fundamental tools for effective
World-building.
