Theosophy is an esoteric system that seeks to uncover a universal spiritual wisdom underlying all religions, combining ideas from Eastern religions, Western occultism, mysticism, and spiritual evolution. It generated an enormous body of associated literature and extremely convoluted claims involving secret sages who had attained enlightenment, immortality, and a semi-corporeal existence, imparting ancient, esoteric spiritual wisdom to those who seek it.
