Fantasy
Back to people overviewAs with most genres, fantasy is impossible to define conclusively, in part because it deals in the apparently limitless faculty of human imagination. In its broadest sense, the fantastic concerns things that are impossible, or apparently impossible, within ordinary reality.
Over recent decades, however, a tighter definition of fantasy has emerged as a genre shaped by shared and recurring tropes, including magic, non-human agencies, and secondary worlds distinct from our own.
