Specially created for Shifting Sands, this limited edition giclée print is based upon a key piece from Fathi Hassan's presentation in The Sunderland Collection Art Programme of the same name.
The work features Fathi's iconic text and Nubian heritage in conversation with a celestial diagram from the Harmonia Macrocosmica by Andreas Cellarius (1661). The celestial chart used as the base layer for this piece shows a Ptolemaic armillary sphere, a scientific instrument designed to show the movement of the celestial spheres around the Earth.
This limited edition artwork is printed on Hahnemühle metallic paper and hand-embossed by master printer Kristina Chan of Plaintiff Press. Artwork measures 42 x 55 cm. Each edition is numbered, signed by the artist, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. There is a limited edition of 20.
